Domestic violence affects people across genders, relationships, backgrounds, and communities. Yet recognition, compassion, and access to resources are not always equal.
Male survivors may face ridicule, disbelief, and silence. LGBTQIA+ survivors may encounter additional barriers to safety and support. Other survivors may struggle to find services that recognize their circumstances. These experiences deserve attention.
If we are serious about breaking cycles of violence, we must also address the behaviors, beliefs, and choices that cause harm. The conversation must be inclusive, responsible, and willing to address all sides of prevention.

Survivor advocacy is essential. So is preventing future harm. Nine Seconds supports education that helps individuals and organizations recognize harmful behaviors, understand coercive control, strengthen accountability, and identify opportunities for intervention.
Our prevention philosophy includes voluntary education for people who have caused harm or recognize destructive patterns. Understanding behavior does not excuse abuse. Responsibility for change remains with the person engaging in it.
